Class Description

Reasonable Accommodation Procedural Guidelines

This training will review the City’s Reasonable Accommodation Procedural Guidelines (the “Guidelines”). Participants, who must transact in reasonable accommodation requests for their agencies, will become familiar with the reasonable accommodation review process under the City’s Guidelines and the roles and responsibilities of relevant parties in the review process, as well as develop competencies in applying the Guidelines.

Objectives:

• Understand the four bases for reasonable accommodations and the specific options to accommodate each.

• Understand the City’s reasonable accommodation policy and procedures (e.g., critical timeframes, notification requirements).

• Know all phases of the cooperative dialogue process and the importance of determining whether an accommodation that is reasonable exists, including making undue hardship assessments.

• Apply a uniform and consistent review process for accommodation requests although all cases are fact specific.

Target Audience: EEO Office professionals, Agency Personnel Officers and Disability Rights Coordinators
