Class Description

This training course supports the mandate under Local Law 121 (2020) and Local Law 14 (2024) in the City Charter.

Objectives:

This course is provided as four modules:

Module 1: Introduction to EEO Principles - Covers New York City’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Policy, how it relates to every employee and consultant who does business with the city, who is protected, what constitutes discrimination and who is entitled to an accommodation.

Module 2: Workplace Harassment and Discrimination - Provides an understanding of what constitutes workplace harassment, how to recognize it and what to do if you experience or witness workplace harassment.

Module 3: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - Learn about the importance of diversity & inclusion and practice how to develop the skills needed to create an inclusive environment where all employees, clients, vendors and visitors are included and valued.

Module 4: Promoting Equity for All and Confronting Systemic Inequities - Equips participants to recognize systemic barriers to address inequitable practices, including those that impact racial equity, and to foster a workplace culture where everyone has fair access to opportunities, resources, and advancement.

Target Audience: Staff at all levels

There is no cost to employees; the agency covers the cost of participation for their employees.
