Class Description
Neurodiversity describes the fact that people experience and interact with the world around them in many different ways; there is no one "right" way of thinking, learning, and behaving. These differences should not be viewed as deficits, but as strengths to be leveraged. Neurodiverse employees can provide valuable contributions to the workplace. This program focuses on educating managers to understand the nature of neurodiversity, and how best to engage with and support neurodiverse employees.
Objectives:
- What Neurodiversity is
- How Neurodiversity can show up in the workplace
- How to engage with and leverage differences presented by Neurodiversity
- What to be aware of when managing someone who is Neurodiverse
- When to loop in HR or additional resources
Target audience: Staff at all levels
There is no cost to employees; the agency covers the cost of participation for their employees.
If you require a reasonable accommodation to attend a training, please contact the DCAS Citywide Learning and Development Center at CitywideTrainingCent@dcas.nyc.gov at least 7 days before your training start date.
